Every community is held together by something we cannot see—friendship, generosity, and kindness. These quiet acts create connections that strengthen and enrich our lives.
At The Lumberyard, our vision has always been to help create a connected community, and it has become a place where conversations begin over a cup of coffee at Refuge Coffee, where creativity flourishes, friendships grow, and people leave feeling more connected than when they arrived.
Inspired by Robert Frost’s poem The Silken Tent, our new mural, Silken Ties and Butterflies, celebrates the 90th birthday of one of our treasured community members, Norma Cotner. The mural illustrates the invisible threads that connect us through encouragement, compassion, and love.
The butterflies symbolize the ripple effect of kindness—small acts that take flight and continue touching others long after they begin. Whether it’s a warm welcome, a helping hand, or a simple conversation, every act of kindness helps build a stronger community.
As you visit The Lumberyard, we hope you’ll pause at the mural, take a photo, and remember that the strongest communities aren’t built only with brick and lumber—they’re built by people and the countless silken ties that connect us all.
