A Morning at The Lumberyard: Market, Art & Community

This Saturday, September 19th, from 8 a.m. to noon, we invite you to slow down, have a delicious cup of coffee, wander through our Farmers Market, meet the people behind the products, and spend a little time enjoying all that our local community has to offer.

Rain or shine! If the weather is rainy, the Lumberyard Market will move inside Refuge Coffee&Co. We’ll still be ready to welcome you for a wonderful morning of local shopping, community, and creativity!

The Lumberyard Market is a celebration of local makers, growers, artists, and small businesses — people who pour an incredible amount of time, creativity, care, and heart into what they do.

Behind every sweet treat, loaf of bread, handmade piece of art, crafted good, batch of preserves, or thoughtfully designed product is someone who has spent hours dreaming, creating, preparing, and perfecting their work. For many of our vendors, getting ready for market begins long before Saturday morning. There are late nights, early mornings, countless creative decisions, and plenty of behind-the-scenes work that shoppers may never see.

And then they show up.

They bring their work, set up their tables, share their stories, and become part of the fabric of our Saturday mornings. Shopping at the Lumberyard Market is one small way to recognize all of that effort — and to support the people who are making, growing, and creating right here in our community.

Your Favorite Lumberyard Businesses Will Be Here, Too

Of course, a market day at The Lumberyard wouldn’t be complete without the familiar faces and local businesses that are part of our community all the time. Several of our regular Lumberyard businesses will be joining in the Saturday morning fun, giving you even more reasons to stop by, stay awhile, and explore.

Refuge Coffee&Co will be here as always, ready to start your morning with a delicious drink and a friendly smile. Whether you have a favorite coffee order or feel like trying something new for Fall, there’s nothing quite like wandering through the market with a good drink in hand.

Stop by The Rusty Rooster and take some time to browse their ever-changing collection of home décor, garden pieces, camper and man cave signs, and unique gifts for those hard-to-buy-for people in your life. There’s always something fun to discover, whether you’re looking for something for your own space or that perfect little something for someone special.

The Well-Traveled Farmer brings together style, travel, and intentional living in a way that encourages you to enjoy the journey. Be sure to stop in and chat with Tracy.

And we’re pleased to welcome the Ottawa YMCA, who will be joining us to share more about the youth services they are bringing to Seneca. It’s another wonderful example of organizations coming together to build connections and create opportunities for our community.

Come for the Market, Stay for the Art

This Saturday morning, you can also step inside Lumber Lane Gallery and experience the beautiful Waterfowl & Waterways Exhibit.

The exhibit offers a glimpse into the quiet beauty of our waterways and the wildlife that call them home, bringing together photography and artwork that celebrate these places and the creatures that inhabit them.

We’re grateful to the talented artists who helped bring this collection to life:

Kim Voss, Kate Reed, Leroy and Kathy Buckley, Tammy Hudson, Pam Hansen, Brian Allen, Mary Jean Dzurisin, Sharine Aupke, and Rick Decorie.

And there’s an especially wonderful reason to stop in this Saturday: the artist reception will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, during the Lumberyard Market.

It’s a chance to meet, appreciate, and celebrate the artists whose work makes this exhibit possible — while enjoying the market and the energy of The Lumberyard on a Saturday morning.
